NYC jewelry brand/creative studio CHRISHABANA returned to the fashion show format for the Spring/Summer 2023 season with a goal to frame its designs as wearable art, a reflection of the expanding range of their work in recent years.
Managing a team of interns, I secured modern art gallery Reena Spaulings as the show venue, curated the list of 300+ industry peers, and executed a promotional strategy that uplifted the brand’s distinct storytelling and innovative craftsmanship. Maintaining communication with leading liquor company DIAGEO, our event sponsor, I supervised the proper execution of contract terms in regard to press and collaborated with their PR team on media outreach to garner mentions in major publications such as WWD, OK Magazine, and Adweek.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Channeling CHRISHABANA’s disruptive approach to creating, I organized an open model casting using the company’s Instagram account. A series of cryptic messages promoting a “special project” intrigued followers with its request that candidates be hairless or prepared to be shaven head to toe for the show. Fielding hundreds of submissions from across the country, I helped the brand narrow the eager applicants down to the final six person cast.
(Besides providing a clean, otherworldly look to accent the designs, this prompt brought attention to the stigmatized relationship between women and hair removal in pop culture. )
To echo the collection’s dark futuristic narrative, I worked with French artist Michael Rennasia and Los Angeles DJ BAEBAE on a set of trippy graphics and an equally mesmerizing soundscape that were shared via social media and also displayed during the presentation.
